Who is this course for?
Training in this program is intended for a wide range of students interested in receiving information about genetically modified plants and in the field of growing environmentally friendly products.
What will you learn?
As a result of mastering the program, students will learn the history of cultivated plants, methods of processing crop products to obtain food. The listener will form a critically meaningful attitude towards information about genetically modified products, the differences between environmentally safe and environmentally friendly crop products.
How are classes going?
Classes in the program are held in the form of lectures and seminars (practical) classes. Upon successful completion of the training, students are issued a certificate.
Graduated from the Department of General Agriculture, Faculty of Soil Science, Moscow State University in 1980.
She defended her dissertation on the topic: “The influence of sample size and shape on information about a soil object” in 1991.
Area of scientific interests: the influence of complex fertilizers on the yield and quality of agricultural crops, changes in the composition of weeds on arable soils under grassed conditions and upon resumption of cultivation soil.
Conducts practical classes in agriculture, crop production and summer training in agriculture. Maintains a database of weeds created at the department.
Author of 24 works, including co-author of the textbook “Workshop on General Agriculture” (2005).
Section 1: Field crop plants and GM plants. Food products obtained after processing of crop products
1.1 Cultivated plants. Foci of origin of cultivated plants. Ecological products - publicity stunt or reality. Documents regulating the quality of crop products
1.2 What are genetically modified plants and their distribution. History of the creation of GM plants. Products from GM plants. Possible risks for humans and the environment when using and cultivating GM plants
1.3 Quality of crop products. The main nutrients necessary for normal human life: proteins, carbohydrates and fats. Natural and artificial additives in food products. Are all food additives harmful?
1.4 Bread production and quality. History of bread baking. Types and quality of flour.
1.5 Processing products of grain and cereal crops (wheat, oats, corn, buckwheat, etc.).
1.6 Products from grain legumes (peas, beans, lentils). Fermented and non-fermented soy products
1.7 Potatoes. Origin and history of distribution. Potato processing products.
Section 2: Ecological farming. Growing environmentally friendly products
2.1 Ecological farming - soil cultivation and fertilization. Crop rotation - a scientific assistant in the production of agricultural products
2.2 Weeds, classification, measures to combat them using agrotechnical and chemical methods
2.3 Growing environmentally friendly vegetables. Nightshade vegetables - tomatoes, peppers. Pumpkin vegetables - pumpkin, cucumber, zucchini.
2.4 Growing potatoes. Root vegetables – radish, radish, turnip
