Autocleaning chats added to WhatsApp
Miscellaneous / / December 07, 2021
Last year on WhatsApp appeared disappearing messages is a function that allows you to automatically delete a correspondence after 7 days. Now the developers have added two more timers, 24 hours and 90 days, as well as the ability to enable automatic deletion of messages by timer for all new chats. Previously, the feature had to be manually enabled for each chat.
Another significant change is the ability to automatically delete messages in group chats - previously this could only be configured for dialogs. But in the case of group chats, you cannot configure auto-deletion by default, unlike individual chats.
To enable the feature, make sure you have the latest version of WhatsApp installed. After that, in the application, open "Settings" → "Account" → "Privacy" → "Timer". Choose how often messages in new chats will be deleted - and you're done.
If you want to disable the function, go to the same section and select “Disable”. Please note: this will not change the settings of existing chats and will only affect new conversations. To disable the timer for chats with already configured auto-deletion, open a dialog with the desired interlocutor, click on his profile, scroll down to the item "Disappearing messages" and select "Switch off".
It is worth noting that this does not return messages that have already been deleted, but only prevents the remaining ones from disappearing.
