Qualcomm unveils Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor

The first smartphones with it will be released before the end of the year.
Qualcomm has officially announced the new 4nm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor, which is the successor to the Snapdragon 888.
Its on-chip system includes a 5G modem X65, which provides download speeds of up to 10 Gbps when using mobile Internet, the maximum download speed via Wi-Fi 6 and 6E is 3.8 Gbps. The Adreno GPU delivers 30% faster rendering with 25% less power consumption. The 7th Generation AI Engine is 4x faster and 1.4x more efficient.
The chip also offers new possibilities for video shooting. The 18-bit signal processor can handle 4000 more data than the 14-bit in the Snapdragon 888, which allows create up to 3.2 gigapixels per second - or, which is more realistic and useful, simultaneously process data from three 36 megapixel cameras each one. It will also allow you to shoot video in 8K HDR @ 30 fps, as well as 4K @ 120 fps and even 720p @ 960 fps.
A new feature is the mode of continuous processing of video in the background in the low consumption mode, which will affect the speed of the face unlock sensors and biometric user identification. For added security, it supports the Trust Management Engine and Google's Android Ready SE standard, which provides storage of digital keys from cars and documents.
The first devices with the new chipset will be presented in December, and many flagships of 2022 will follow. It is expected to be the first to use it in their smartphones Xiaomi, realme, OPPO and Motorola.
