3 easy ways to make your soles slip-resistant
Miscellaneous / / April 02, 2023
1. Use Band-Aid
This is the most budgetary and fastest way to adapt shoes for the winter season. First, wash and dry the sole well. Next, take a fabric-based patch and glue it to the shoe in longitudinal strips. Or make a couple of crosses in the heel and toe area. Ready! Now you can safely go for a walk even in sneakers, without fear of slips and falls.
The main disadvantage of this method is its short duration. You will need to repeat the procedure every day. In addition, the life hack only works in dry weather. If the ice on the street began to thaw, then the homemade “brake” would become damp and quickly peel off.
2. Glue sandpaper or felt
Measure the width of the sole at the toe and heel and cut two strips of sandpaper to the appropriate size. Attach them to your shoes with glue. A rough surface will create additional grip and reduce slip. It is important to choose moisture-resistant paper so that it does not fall apart from snow and puddles.
Such protection lasts longer than a plaster, but it is easy to damage indoor floors in shoes with sandpaper on the sole. If you don't change your shoes
office, use soft felt instead of paper. And even after the need for an anti-slip pad disappears, the sole will need to be cleaned of glue. This can be a difficult task. To make your work easier in advance, try fixing sandpaper or felt with double-sided moisture-proof tape.
3. Apply a mixture of sand and glue
Sand is a popular way to deal with ice in the city. But it can also be applied to the soles of shoes. It is not necessary to cover the entire surface: as in the previous methods, you can get by with a couple of stripes on the toe and heel.
Apply superglue to the desired places, and then immediately sprinkle them with sand. If possible, add small stones to the mixture - they will give extra tenacity. Sand in the process of wearing will gradually fall off: when the anti-slip effect disappears, the procedure will need to be repeated.
