Minimalist email clients: Mailbox and MailTab
Makradar Technologies / / December 19, 2019
Today I want to please the supporters of minimalism. Not to say that he is completely belong to this, but on some issues dear to me is the simplicity and functionality. The long period of Mac OS was not much spoiled by the variety of email clients, but happiness comes to us, and in recent proposals appear one after another. It should however be noted that almost always sharpened by gmail (see developers believe that another post in the normal user simply can not be).
May 2011 brought us another e-mail client - Mailbox. Simple, comfortable, functional and rather 'the blasted. " As with almost all new, it works with the email account from Google. What is it I was so pleased? Interface.
We have seen already: Mailplane - copies the entire Web-Gmail interface, Sparrow - representing a seemingly (but partly functional) symbiosis Twitter and GMail. Mailbox went the other way. He essentially no interface. Rather there, but only in the form of drop-down windows icons menyubare.
With all the minimalism, we have a full-fledged e-mail client to work with one (only one) gmail account. Settings in Mailbox absent as a class. Rather himself item on the menu is, but it can only get out of the Google-account, or see the version of the program. Yes, and control keys are not much, but enough to perform all the necessary functions of the mail client. What can the mini-program? In this drop-down box, we can see the new mail, delete unnecessary messages or sent to the spam, archive, send print set shortcut or move into one of the folders, shortcuts, mark as read or unread, as well as create and send new letter. Available group activities over the letters. Search. Support for Gmail address book (click on the plus sign next to the address box). The transition to the folder shortcuts menu. I do not know what to wish for more?
In order to fully pass on the Mailbox I lack only the ability to work with multiple accounts. And many probably would like to have other postal services (well, admittedly, does not yet orderly went to Google). But given that Sparrow also started in a similar way to the gmail-mailer, will quietly naedyatsya.
Of oddities it is perhaps worth noting that specific items are displayed in the shortcut menu: "Buzz" and tasks, but they do not function. Perhaps the author is planning to launch them later, and can design costs.
I'm in the beginning of the article mentioned a "small glitches": Sometimes clicking on the icon in the popup window does not see a list of letters and blue background with an error code. This (in my experience) happens, if you are not one e-mail client and update one coincides with the removal of the letters in the other. But perhaps the reason is different, you should still watch. I will say one thing, the error is not common, and is not particularly annoying. And to make allowances for youth programs, I think developers have much to fix it.
The program is so young that the author has not even created under her section on their website. Moreover, MacAppStore refers to a site where a word about the Mailbox. The main thing is to create an interesting application, the developer has not abandoned it on the first version as unfortunately sometimes happens. In the meantime, all who 1 Google release mail account, and can try to solve as a way to read mail them useful. The benefit of the program is absolutely free.
UpDate: Already finished his story about simpatishnye mini-mailer, I ran along the paths MacAppStore... and found almost an exact copy our today's hero.
The most interesting thing that I have faced a similar earlier, when I was studying for customers FaceBook. Then I really liked FaceTab, install it and popolzovavshis a while, I came across a twin (except for some design elements). - FaceBox. And the curious thing is that the twin I liked, and I even bought Pro- version.
After about a month or so history repeats itself, and again with the same companies. The fact that Zentertain Ltd - authors Mailbox cmdlet, also are authors I liked FaceBox. And their competitors twin of FIPLAB Ltd, the authors of the very very similar to our hero mail client MailTab, and as you probably guessed FaceTab too.
Describe decorated MailTab washed there, as well as post screenshots. The app is exactly the same Mailbox, with a few minor exceptions:
- Icon in the application menu bar at the Mailbox smaller and neater, and even thinner design.
- But at MailTab works "Buzz", and have the ability to change the size of the working window to your liking, as well as audible notification of new mail arrives.
Also note that MailTab slightly older, as released April 14, 2011.
So, there is plenty to choose from, there is something to try. Personally, I'll stay with Mailbox and wait for updates. I can not explain anything, but he told me more likable. And to you, I recommend to look into MacAppStore and choose yourself one of two competing twins.
