At one time the cartoon adventure The Tiny Bang Story brought many pleasant experiences - not only kids, but also quite an adult uncles and aunts - that pass by the creators of this new project pretty igrulentsii (among other things, the Russian studio) was quite impossible. Especially that Braveland not a quest, and a turn-based fantasy strategy.
Of course, you should be aware that "Breyvlend" is not a recognized competitor hits of this genre. Taking into account the main features of the toys, I would have called it the "first turn-based strategy in life" - just for beginners who do not know the principles of TBS-games and have not played in "Heroes", "Vorlordy" and "Civilization". :)
Simple hand-drawn graphics is well combined with a simple unpretentious gameplay. The main character - a country boy, whose native village looted and burned. On the way to an honorable place you will adjoin different warriors, and together you have to overcome not only the main adversary-supostatycha, but a whole army of all sorts of thieves, mercenaries and magic forest creatures. Here gamer stariche probably remember the basic plot, for example, the first Dungeon Siege... :) But back to Braveland.
As soon as you meet on the way another band, after a short and sometimes hilarious dialogue you with general map of the world will be taken to a map of combat. In fact it is a game board, only hexagonal cells - just like in the good old "Heroes of Might and Magic." Why do they then make a square, I'll never know... But I digress again.
In the conduct of the "battle" is the essence of turn-based strategy: each figure representing a detachment of combat units a certain type, in turn makes his move - any move in a more comfortable position, or attack enemy unit. Should be aware of the main "specialization" of figures. If this is a knight - it should be closer to the enemy, if the archer - keep it on the far wing, where he would get only the same "dalnoboev" like himself. Depending on the combat and defensive characteristics of the figures, the attack brings some physical damage. And your task - to send opponents to the valley ancestors before they do it to you.
If you are losing, because this, too, can benefit. Every time your soldiers get on bonce, increasing the so-called points of rage, which can be changed to different magic freaks: increase in mileage range of combat units, more security, fire arrows from the sky, and even destructive meteorites. One has only to remember that the accumulated rage is not as fast as we would like, and vrazhina not born sewn. Therefore, magic helps those who help themselves.
The whole "mechanics" ingenuous turn-based strategy, especially in such a simple game like Braveland. But if it is so easy to become a kind of simulator before moving on to more serious games, I would place the developers have added more background information, which is an example of the game could intelligibly explain the basic rules of turn-based strategy - the player studied in advance to anticipate the consequences of a step, and not poke the mouse at random. But it is in order to offer, not criticism. ;)
By the way, as any self-respecting toy, Braveland gives your character not only stretch your bones and replenish his squad with new swords and arrows, but also to please the heart of a warrior steep nishtyak. Sword in the Stone, helmet, armor, amulets, magic statues - all of this "pump" or protection (physical and magical), or the fighting qualities of detachment (force damage, and spirit). Do not forget to click on the portrait of the character in the upper left corner of the game and view options kid and his gallant team. In the battle mode, among other things, in the same corner of the screen is a large round button with a question mark - it is possible to study the parameters of each military figures. Based on this information, the as experience is gained, the player will be able to independently calculate the course of the battle at least a few steps ahead, which greatly increase the chances of winning - especially if you suddenly switch pulls the toy to medium or maximum level difficulties. ;)
Overall, I liked the game - mainly its harmonious combination of graphics, gameplay and voice. Although, as I understand it, disposing of the main anti-hero, I just finished the first book in this story. So if you too Braveland liking, the prospects for further adventures in this fantasy world should be good news. :)
The toy is available in both Mac users and owners of iOS-devices. Of course, through the corresponding "EIT-Sided" and the Steam Store:
