At a hearing of the Senate Subcommittee SSCHA to address the issue of the transfer of profits and offshore tax evasion by Apple representatives Cupertino complained the fact that the US corporate tax system is so bad that Apple is in a disadvantage with regards to Samsung competitor - when it comes to taxes, Koreans paid for lower rates.
To Apple, like other corporations, trying to take advantage of all available tax loophole and ease their tax burden, but with any funds that come to the United States, the company pays a fair tax rate of 35%. Meanwhile, Samsung, Apple's largest competitor, has been operating in South Korea, where the corporate tax rate is only 25%. Peter Oppenheimer (Peter Oppenheimer) said it is somewhat unfair: «Samsung are able to freely move their income, whereas we did can not afford."
Senator Rob Portman (Rob Portman) from Ohio said such arguments absurd and Apple insists on favorable position. Portman pointed Apple CEO Tim Cook and CFO Peter Oppenheimer on it, that worldwide Apple and Samsung have to pay the same taxes that are about 14%.
There is a perception that the US tax system gives a lot of benefits and bonuses for US companies than many attribute the success of such giants like Apple and Google. But not everything is so simple and serene - the Americans, as it turns out, find their situation is very disadvantageous and blamed the tax code in the difficulties of competition in the international market.
