Many people almost never release a smartphone from the hands. We are so used to it that stopped noticing how silly it looks sometimes. Series American photographer Eric Pickersgill recalls that without mobile life would be more interesting.
The series titled Removed consists of portraits of people who are completely focused on their smartphones. There is one "but": in fact, in their hands nothing. Eric asked the models to take such a strange posture to convey their thoughts to others.
Pickersgill started shooting the series in 2014 in the United States. Most of the pictures he made in his home state of North Carolina.
It's not just about smartphones, but also tablets (or Nintendo Switch?).
In June 2018, Eric started shooting the series in Asia - Vietnam, Myanmar, Singapore and Indonesia.
All this applies not only to the younger generation.
In the near future Pickersgill is going to publish a similar series from India. All images can be viewed on its website.
