A year ago, we told you about the application EventBox. This is a universal social network aggregation. C program you can follow the news of friends in social networks. Application fate was a bizarre way: the development of the whole company of the redeemed guys Realmac (you probably know about the products of this company - Little Snapper and RapidWeaver). Then EventBox renamed Socialite and closed on completion. A few days ago the new owners of the program demonstrated version 1.0.
The idea of the application remains the same - it is the aggregator. The program supports Twitter, Digg, Facebook, Flickr, Google Reader, and can also serve as unpretentious RSS-client. With some services to operate more convenient (eg, Twitter), with some less (Digg read more convenient all the same in the browser).
I was most interested in how Socialite useful as a Twitter client. It turned out that he could easily replace Tweetie. Everything you need to work with mikrobloggingovym service - reducing links, images, browse, post it to friends, reading "chains" tweets - have been implemented.
The only drawback Socialite as a Twitter client is the inability to post pictures. Cooler Thanks for the comment, it is possible, (see. in the settings section Other> Photo Upload).
Compared with Tweetie from Socialite has two advantages. Firstly, the application now supports Twitter lists (lists), which should please the users with a large number of subscriptions. And secondly, the developers Socialite better support services reference contraction. You can specify the API-key in your account bit.ly and it will gather statistics from the published links. It will be possible once a week to go and learn how your tweets are interesting to readers :)
In general, the program was interesting. I advise you to try. If you like it, developers will have to pay $ 20. or use Socialite in demo mode, which allows you to add up to three accounts.
