One of the Mail application innovations in OS X Yosemite became a Mail Drop. This is a feature that allows you to send in the mail very large files up to 5 GB. It works by loading the file in iCloud and send the recipient a reference to it.
The beta versions of Yosemite, this feature is only working for the mailing address @ me.com and @ icloud.com. Now it is open to all e-mail domains, but, of course, only for the standard Mail application. To send by Mail Drop the file you just need to attach it to the letter in a standard way: by means of clips at the top right or by dragging the desired file in the message body.
You will be asked whether to send the attachment using Mail Drop and whether it is always necessary to do.
After downloading the file to iCloud, a letter will come to the recipient. There will be a link that will redirect the recipient to the iCloud service, where you can download the file sent.
And sending and file downloads occur very quickly. The maximum size of attachments - 5 gigabytes. And Mail Drop - it's a second wind for the post, which can now be used as a personal file sharing. Files live on the server 30 days, and most importantly, they do not consume space in your iCloud storage.
