The main objective of the course is to form in students a holistic understanding of intellectual property as a legal institution that ensures the achievement of practical goals of entrepreneurial activities. The course is aimed at developing the following practical skills in students: identification of intellectual property and persons involved in its creation, identification of organizing business processes related to the creation, acquisition, protection or commercialization of intellectual property, risk management in the field of intellectual property property.
The course is based on a methodological approach that involves a cross-functional synthesis of management practices in the management of intellectual property. Based on their own many years of experience in the field of intellectual property, the course authors consider practical aspects of this activity, which are at the intersection of law, economics and management.
In this course, intellectual property is considered as a mechanism for stimulating innovative business activity by providing opportunities to commercialize developments, protect investments in the creation of new products and technologies, obtain economic benefits from implementation innovation. Advantages and disadvantages of various strategies in the field of intellectual property (patenting, prosecution of violators, joint commercialization, etc.) are considered using practical examples from the history of well-known world and Russian companies, and current Russian judicial practice.
The course is intended for a wide range of students and does not require special preliminary preparation.
