Fraudsters have a new scheme: they say that your account on State Services has been hacked

Fraudsters began sending messages to Russians saying that their Gosuslugi account had been hacked. By scaring people, they can gain remote access to the personal account of the State Services or even the victim’s device. About it write Izvestia with reference to cybersecurity experts.
The new scheme appeared after introduction mandatory two-factor authentication at State Services. Fraudsters send messages via SMS, instant messengers and email, claiming that your State Services account has been hacked or blocked. In the same message, they sometimes indicate phone numbers from which a call may come from the support service, which will help restore access.
If the user enters into communication, the attacker will try to obtain the two-factor code from him authentication to confirm login to State Services, or convince the victim to set up remote access to phone. In this way, scammers collect logins, passwords, information about cards and user documents specified in the personal account of the State Services.
In some cases, a credit or loan can be issued to defrauded people, confirming their identity through a stolen State Services account. There are also cases of devices being blocked and requiring payment to be unlocked.
Experts note that although there are hundreds of reports of this type of fraud, there are few victims: people have become more suspicious of such messages.
If you receive such a letter or SMS, do not click on the links provided in them. If you receive a phone call, do not provide any information, including SMS codes. Instead, open “Government Services” yourself (be sure to check that the site is correct: gosuslugi.ru, without additional characters and words in the address) and make sure that you can enter your account.
