In the new test, the system successfully passed the stage separation stage for the first time and rose to an altitude of 148 km.
SpaceX today for the second time launched giant Starship rocket. This happened seven months after first attempt.
The rocket launched at 16:03 Moscow time from the spaceport in Texas. All 33 Raptor engines fired at liftoff, and none went out during launch. This can be considered a huge success compared to the first test, which resulted in the loss of about six engines between launch and flight.
Following the planned separation of the hot stage, the Super Heavy booster rocket exploded instead of continuing its planned descent and landing on water. But Starship itself continued its journey into space. After about 9 minutes, contact with him was lost.
Although the upper stage did not complete its full flight plan, which would have seen it fly halfway around the world and splash down in the Pacific Ocean, the launch overall was considered a successful test flight. The ship for the first time overcame the separation stage and reached an altitude of 148 kilometers. That is, he managed to get to space, the border with which lies at an altitude of 100 kilometers.
Musk plans to use Starship for space tourism and the colonization of Mars. The spaceship is capable of carrying up to 150 tons of crew and cargo. Its first test flight took place on April 20, 2023. It took off successfully, but later the engines failed - 4 minutes after launch. As a result, it was blown up.
