Google developers have expanded the capabilities of the proprietary voice assistant, adding the function of reading web pages aloud. The service can read sites in 42 languages, including Russian. About it reported in the official blog of the company.
To start reading, the user needs to open the desired page in the Chrome browser on an Android smartphone and say: "Ok, Google, read it" or "Ok, Google, read this page." A special interface will open that will allow you to automatically highlight the words spoken by the assistant and scroll the page. If necessary, you can change the reading speed and choose one of several voices.
The developers also noted that web pages are read aloud quite expressively and naturally, as if it were done by a person. This way the text is perceived better and you don't have to look at the screen to check something. If the site is in a foreign language that is supported by the function, then it can be automatically translated before reading it aloud.
Reading will be available on all smartphones with Android 5.0 and newer in the coming weeks.
