Miscellaneous / / November 16, 2023
Can you guess where Russia ranks, and where a 100 Mbit/s package costs 14 times more?
Analysts from Picodi compared Internet prices in different countries of the world. To do this, they checked the prices of 364 providers from 85 countries and compared the cost of a monthly tariff for 100 Mbit/s - the most popular tariff. For comparison, the results were converted into dollars.
It turned out that the cheapest home Internet at 100 Mbit/s is in Russia: on average it costs only $5.6 per month. The most expensive similar tariffs are in Australia ($61.8), Iceland ($62.1) and Norway ($79.4). Here's what the full ranking looks like:
Some countries were not included in the ranking, including Spain, France, China and Singapore, because local providers no longer offer 100 Mbit/s - only faster options are available in the price lists.
Experts also checked what tariff residents of the same countries can subscribe to with 20 dollars or its equivalent in local currency (in Russia this is approximately 1,800 rubles). The result is this graph:
Returning to prices for 100 Mbit/s, as of November 16, 5.6 dollars is approximately 500 rubles. How much do you pay for home Internet?
