"Government services" have learned to check the authenticity of a passport

A service has appeared on the Gosuslug portal to verify the authenticity of passports of Russian residents. To do this, it is enough to indicate the person’s last and first name, as well as the series and number of the passport provided to them. After checking in the database of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the service will give the result: whether the passport is genuine and whether its validity has expired.

If the passport is valid and authentic, the status “valid” will appear, if it is genuine but expired - “invalid”, if fake - “data not found”.

In the Telegram channel “Ministry of Digital Development of Russia” notethat a new public service may be required before a transaction, concluding an agreement, or in other situations when you need to determine exactly what kind of person is in front of you. If the service does not find a genuine and valid passport, you will need to contact the Ministry of Internal Affairs in person or online to check the relevance of your personal data.
