Now you can become a surfer while the files are unpacked.
On Windows 11 discovered a hidden mini-game, Surf the waves, that can be played while installing the OS. Thus, the developers decided to diversify the monotonous process.
An Easter egg was spotted while setting up a new laptop Surface Laptop Studio 2. After turning on the computer, the system prompted the user to play while it unpacked the files.
Surf the waves is a top-down pixel arcade game where you control a surfer. This is the same game that Microsoft added to its Edge browser in 2020. And it's very similar to SkiFree from Microsoft Entertainment Pack 3, released for Windows in 1991.
The Verge notes that the installer offers to play in the event of a large update that takes a long time. Whether the option is available during less expensive processes is not yet known. It's also unclear whether it's limited to Surface devices or whether Microsoft has added it to everyone.
