Samsung has officially introduced a new model in a series of smart monitors - Smart Monitor M8. It was first shown at CES earlier this year, but now the company has revealed all the specifications and opened pre-orders.
This 32-inch 4K monitor is just 11.4mm thin, which Samsung claims is 3/4 thinner than the previous model in the lineup. The refresh rate is 60 Hz, coverage of 99% of the sRGB color space is claimed. The device gives access to various programs even without connecting to a PC. So, through the monitor, you can control your smart home, use Samsung DeX, AirPlay 2 and Microsoft 365 cloud services, as well as duplicate the image from a Samsung smartphone.
For video communication, a magnetic SlimFit Cam is provided. It is included in the package and supports Face Tracking and Auto Zoom technologies to automatically find the user's face, crop the image and make sure that the head is constantly was in the center. A similar feature is used in modern iPads. There are also microphones in the monitor, which are also used for the Bixby assistant (you can call it even if the screen is off).
The set of connectors is modest: one micro HDMI and a pair of 2 USB-C, one of which is used for charging. Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 4.2 are used for wireless connection.
The Samsung Smart Monitor M8 in blue, pink and green is priced at $730, while the white version costs $700. In some countries, you can already pre-order, although the delivery date was not disclosed.
