Sony has announced an updated PlayStation Plus

Sony officially announced changes to the PlayStation Plus subscription. Now it will be offered in three versions - each with its own advantages. The changes will come into effect at the end of the first half of 2022.

PlayStation Plus

Fully corresponds to the current PS Plus in terms of price and benefits. Existing users will not have to change anything or pay extra, the transition will happen automatically.

PlayStation Plus Extra

Offers all the benefits of Essential plus adds access to a catalog of up to 400 popular PS4 and PS5 games. Death Stranding, God of War, Marvel's Spider-Man, Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Mortal Kombat 11, Returnal and other hits will be available at launch. The library will include games from both PlayStation Studios and independent developers.

This subscription will cost 1.5 times the price of Essential: $15 or €14 per month versus $10 and €9 respectively.

PlayStation Plus Premium

All the benefits of the previous two subscriptions plus up to 340 additional games including PS3 hits (cloud streaming) and classics from the original PlayStation, PS2 and PSP (streamed and downloadable on console). Also, players will have access to trial versions of games before purchase (probably we are talking about limited demo versions that are not available to other users).

Such a subscription will cost $18 or €17 per month.
