Counter-Strike 2 is out: 6 major improvements

On the night of September 28, Valve released Counter-Strike 2, which was available for limited beta testing for some time. Now the developers contributed recent changes and provided access to the shooter to all users. The release was accompanied by a spectacular trailer.

What's new in Counter-Strike 2

1. The game was transferred to the Source 2 engine. Thanks to new rendering technologies, the developers have updated all the main CS: GO maps, and some of them have been completely redesigned from scratch.
2. Movement and shooting no longer depend on the server update rate. Every step, shot and grenade throw is instantly recorded by the server due to a new subtick structure.
3. Improved visual effects. Updated lighting systems, behavior of water, explosions, fire, flashes from gunshots and others. Grenades also use dynamic volumetric particles, and bullets briefly accelerate or disperse a smoke screen.
4. All sound effects have been improved to better convey the environment and give players more information about what is happening around them.

5. The rating system has been updated. A player’s skill indicator has been added to it, which determines his position in global and regional leaderboards.
6. Improved appearance of all in-game items from CS: GO. They began to look more impressive thanks to the Source 2 engine.

With all this, the minimum system requirements for Counter-Strike 2 are relatively low:

• 4-thread processor - Intel Core i5 750 or better;
• 8 GB RAM and 85 GB hard drive space;
• A video card with 1 GB of memory or more, compatible with DirectX 11 and supporting Shader Model 5.0.
