Gamers are welcome at universities: computer classes are replaced with large classrooms with new technology and e-sports coaches are invited.
Russian universities are increasingly adding points to the Unified State Examination results of applicants who have merit in eSports. About it told President of the Computer Sports Federation (FCS) Dmitry Smith at the Eastern Economic Forum.
Points can be obtained for sports categories in eSports, but Smith does not provide a list of universities that practice this. He also noted that now in some universities specialized platforms are being created, teams and coaches are appearing. If previously e-sportsmen were trained in regular computer classes, now they are given large classrooms with new equipment, and areas for spectators and fans are added.
Smith notes that esports athletes from 400 Russian universities participated in the latest student league competitions organized by the FCC. In total, in 2023, about 500 thousand players took part in various eSports competitions in Russia (including online formats).
