A new argument in favor of four days.
Scientists from the University of Texas (USA) found out at what time during the working week people become the least productive. Study this was published in the magazine PLOS One.
The authors of the work analyzed the computer usage rates of 789 employees of a large energy company in Texas for two years (from January 1, 2017 to December 31, 2018). Data such as typing speed, number of typos, and mouse activity were taken into account.
It turned out that the most productive workers were from Monday to Thursday. And on Friday, their activity was markedly reduced - they typed less and used the mouse less often, while making more typos compared to the rest of the days.
Scientists have also found that the number of errors increases in the afternoon - any, not just Friday.
The scientists believe their research could help executives improve productivity and profits for their companies. To increase performance, they recommend them to use flexible schedule or hybrid system work.
