A budget solution for emulating classic games.
Retroid has unveiled a new compact game console Pocket 2S. Like other devices from the manufacturer, it is focused on emulating retro games from the PSP, Nintendo 64, Sega Saturn and other consoles.
Pocket 2S received a 3.5-inch IPS touch screen. It has been improved compared to Pocket 2+, eliminating blind spots. It is reported that the quality of the panel itself has increased, but the characteristics have remained at the same level: 640 × 480 pixels, 60 Hz.
For control, a cross is provided, A / B / X / Y, two triggers on the left and right (L1 / 2 and R1 / 2) and two magnetic sticks on the Hall sensors (they are also L3 and R3). There are also Select and Start buttons.
Unisoc T610 is responsible for performance - not the most powerful solution, so you should not count on stable operation of most games with PS2 and Wii even at a lower resolution. The console comes with Android 11 and a custom skin that prompts you to select emulators to boot on first launch.
The battery capacity is 4,000 mAh, USB-C is used for recharging. Also on the case there is a 3.5 mm headphone jack and a slot for TF memory cards.
The Retroid Pocket 2S is offered in two memory options: 3/32 GB and 4/128 GB. They cost 99 and 119 dollars, respectively (that's about 8,900 and 10,700 rubles at the exchange rate). Both versions are available in six colors, including two transparent versions and a retro 16-bit version. On manufacturer's website pre-orders are already open, the first batch is expected to ship on August 10.
