Inflabi inflatable bicycle helmet was shown in Germany - it is safer and more comfortable
Miscellaneous / / June 24, 2023
German startup Inflabi introduced compact bicycle helmet that can be deflated and inflated (in 20 seconds). And even a conventional pump is suitable for this.
It is made from a special welded fabric that allows it to shrink to a quarter of its size when ready. Thanks to this, it can be stored in a backpack or even a pocket.
Along with being compact, Inflabi offers several other advantages over traditional options. First, it is 70% lighter. The prototype weighs only 140 grams (however, the weight of the production model may change). Secondly, it is more flexible, so it is better suited to different head shapes.
The designers claim that their development is four times more reliable than conventional helmets. Inflabi works on the principle of car airbags and distributes the impact force by compressing its air chambers. Thanks to this "dispersion" it better protects the head. The novelty has already received the European safety certificate EU1078.
The first batch of 300 pieces will be available for pre-order at site companies in August, and deliveries should begin in November. At this point, the startup promises to launch production in four different sizes. The helmet was valued at 150 euros (â14,000 rubles).
