The first footage from the filming of the fantasy "The Wizard of the Emerald City" appeared

It will be a film adaptation of the story of the same name by Alexander Volkov, which he wrote in 1939 based on the fairy tale by the American writer Lyman Frank Baum "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz".

The plot of the film tells about a girl named Ellie and her dog Totoshka, who find themselves in a magical world. To return to reality, they need to find the Wizard of the Emerald City.

Ellie will be played by 8-year-old Ekaterina Chervova, for whom this will be her debut on the big screen. And Totoshka is a Jack Russell Terrier named Uger.

The role of the Tin Woodman went to Yuri Kolokolnikov. The sorceress Bastinda will be performed by Svetlana Khodchenkova. The fantasy film will also star Evgeny Chumak, Artur Vakha and Dmitry Chebotarev.

The film is scheduled to wrap up in mid-July. The Wizard of Oz is set to release on December 25, 2024.
