Apple Turns iPhone Into a Pet Tracking Camera
Miscellaneous / / June 08, 2023
The feature will not be included in iOS 17, so you will have to tinker to use it.
Apple introduced the DockKit framework, which can be used to turn the iPhone into a pet tracking camera. However, for this you will need to additionally buy a motorized stand.
DockKit lets you take photos and videos on your iPhone while it's on a stand. It has the Animal Body Pose API technology for tracking and determining animal poses.
The company notes that using the framework, developers can create applications that, in real-time will automatically identify and track objects within a 360 radius degrees. The solution also allows you to control the movement of the stand, for example, to observe other objects.
Apple emphasizes that animal tracking is not included in the official list of new features in iOS 17. The company only provided the tools needed to build and run these iPhone-based cameras. More details on this will be given in the coming days.
Recall Apple introduced swivel iPhone holders back in 2011. However, they never became part of the branded ecosystem.
