Can display 100-inch virtual screen.
Israeli startup Sightful introduced an unusual portable device called the Spacetop. It's essentially a laptop, but without a physical display.
The device is equipped with a special AR headset with built-in speakers. It demonstrates a 100-inch virtual screen in augmented reality mode, which is visible to only one user.
And the Spacetop itself is quite compact - the body size is only 26.6x25x4 centimeters. It weighs 1.5 kilograms (including the headset).
Inside is a Snapdragon 865 processor, 8 GB of RAM and a built-in storage with a capacity of 256 GB. There are two USB-C ports with support for the DisplayPort 1.4 standard. Also available are 5G NR Sub-6, Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.1 wireless modules.
The device is equipped with a webcam with a resolution of 2560 × 1920 pixels and a fingerprint scanner. The battery only lasts for 5 hours of continuous operation, its exact characteristics have not yet been disclosed.
The dedicated augmented reality headset got 1080p per eye at a refresh rate of 72Hz. It provides a 53-degree diagonal field of view and displays a curved virtual screen with a multi-window interface.
It is noted that the headset is incompatible with conventional glasses. Lenses will be developed individually according to the prescription from the optometrist.
The device runs on its own operating system called Spacetop OS. Users can use the keyboard and touchpad to control and navigate. There is also support for gestures and swipes.
The exact price of Spacetop has not yet been announced, but the company noted that it will be in the region of $ 2,000 (≈160,000 rubles). In the near future, it is planned to release a trial batch of 1,000 pieces to study demand.
