Samsung showed Galaxy Book 3 Pro and Ultra. These are the competitors of the MacBook Pro

February began with the presentation of Galaxy Unpacked - which Samsung holds offline for the first time in 3 years. Together with flagship smartphones Galaxy S23 today introduced three new laptops: Galaxy Book 3 Pro (14” and 16”), Book 3 Pro 360 (16”) plus the top-end Book 3 Ultra (16”).

Book 3 Pro is the thinnest model among the new products, Book 3 Pro 360 is a convertible with 360-degree hinge and S Pen support, and Book 3 Ultra is the most productive in the line. We tell the main thing about each of them.

Galaxy Book 3 Ultra

This version is equipped with the latest 13th generation Intel Core i9 processor and RTX GeForce 4070 discrete graphics. A simpler version with Core i7 and GeForce 4050 will also be available. The maximum amount of LPDDR5 RAM is 32 GB, built-in memory is 1 TB (PCIe 4.0 SSD).

The display is a 16-inch Dynamic AMOLED with a resolution of 2880×1800 pixels. It supports a variable refresh rate of 48-120Hz and delivers a maximum brightness of 400 nits (500 nits for HDR content).

The novelty received a 76 Wh battery and comes with a 100 W adapter in the box. Two 5W woofers and two 2W tweeters are responsible for the sound. They support Dolby Atmos surround sound. A pair of "studio quality" microphones and a 1080p webcam are also announced. The sound and cameras are the same for all new models - as are the displays (among 16-inch ones, of course).

The list of ports is short, but everything important is there: two USB-C Thunderbolt 4 and one USB-A, 3.5 mm and HDMI 2.0 (full size). There is also a microSD card slot.

The Book 3 Ultra will only be available in Graphite.

Galaxy Book 3 Pro

This laptop is the only one among the new products that comes in two sizes (14” and 16”) and offers a choice between Core i5-1340P and Core i7-1360P processors. They are complemented by 8 to 16 GB of LPDDR5 memory, the storage capacity is 256 GB, 512 GB or 1 TB.

The 14-inch version was equipped with a 63 Wh battery, the 16-inch version was equipped with a 76 Wh battery. The younger model has a thickness of 11.3 mm and weighs 1.17 kg, while the older model has 12.5 mm and 1.56 kg.

The ports here are the same as in Ultra, except for HDMI: it is also full-sized, but the version is downgraded to 1.4. Beige was added to the graphite coloring.

Galaxy Book 3 Pro 360

It's essentially the same 16-inch Book 3 Pro, only with a 360-degree hinge. It allows you to use the display as a tablet. The screen supports all the functions of the S Pen - which is not surprising, given that the stylus is included in the package.

The laptop is 12.8mm thick and weighs 1.66kg. A 5G-enabled variant will also be available, weighing a bit more at 1.71kg.

Prices and release dates

All three models are already available for pre-order, the Pro and Pro 360 models will ship on February 17, Ultra on February 22. The prices are:
