Gamma is a handy presentation editor that will replace PowerPoint and Keynote
Miscellaneous / / April 03, 2023
The service is available free of charge.
The Gamma web app helps you quickly put together beautiful presentations using text, images, animations, and videos. The service is suitable for both beginners and more experienced users. To create bright projects, there is a set of convenient tools, as well as ready-made examples.
To start working in Gamma, you need to register an account and create your own workspace, where all your projects and presentations of your colleagues will be stored. You can start from scratch, use one of the templates in the Templates menu, or save yourself files from the Inspiration section. You can also import text from Google Docs.
While creating a presentation, a menu with tools is available to the user on the right side of the screen. The finished pages look more like a website or a digitally designed book than the usual slides.
In Gamma, you can edit text, add cards, lists, columns, images, and various charts. It will also be possible to embed a video into the presentation using a link to one of the popular services.
Tools are available to embed web pages, apps, projects from Google Docs, Office 365, Miro, and more. In this case, the elements will work inside the presentation as interactive parts.
For the presentation, you can create your own theme or choose from ready-made options. It is easy to add comments and reactions to all elements on the project page using emoji. They can be used as a reminder to yourself or as an appeal to colleagues.
For the presentation demonstration mode, you need to prepare the areas into which the project is divided by meaning. When editing, everything scrolls as a whole, but during the show, these parts will be displayed as separate slides. You can switch between them with the arrows and stop at every important moment.
Collaboration on a project with other users takes place in real time, as, for example, in Google Docs. You can invite colleagues using the generated link using the Share button in the top menu. The finished presentation can be exported in PDF format or printed on paper.
At this stage in the beta version, the service is completely free. In the future, the developers plan to introduce a subscription for $10 per month. A paid plan will provide access to advanced statistics on presentation views, a set of content for design, as well as an unlimited history of file changes.
