14 models will be left behind.
Samsung hasn't released yet One UI 5 based on Android 13 for all compatible devices, as details about the upcoming One UI 6 based on Android 14. Author SammyFans analyzed Galaxy smartphone support timeline to find out which ones can upgrade to One UI 6.
The manufacturer's support schedules are not the most obvious. So, starting with the Galaxy S21, all flagships receive 4 years of Android updates. Mid-range and budget models usually get 2-3 years, but there are exceptions (like the Galaxy A53 and Galaxy A73) that will last 4 years like the top models.
Based on all these features, here is a list of models that will not update beyond One UI 5 and Android 13:
- Galaxy S20, S20+ and S20 Ultra
- Galaxy Z Flip (LTE and 5G)
- Galaxy S20 FE (LTE and 5G)
- Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra
- Galaxy Z Fold 2 5G
- Galaxy Note 10 Lite
- Galaxy S10 Lite
- Galaxy A51 and A71
At the same time, the mentioned models will receive security updates for another year and only after that they will become obsolete.
