“One of the most brilliant scripts of the year”: what critics write about Knives Out 2
Miscellaneous / / September 13, 2022
The film boasts one of the most brilliant screenplays of the year, not only in terms of exquisitely funny dialogue and satirical barbs at pop culture, but also a scrupulous, multifaceted plot in the spirit of classic detective stories that makes the brain work from the first minute to the final credits.
This picture offers more action, more amazing twists, more daring design, and some really amazing cameos to boot. However, it doesn't suffer from the usual "give 'em the same, but more" bloat that comes with surprise hit sequels. The cast is more diverse than the first part, and the criticism of the ignorant rich has become even more relevant.
Craig plays with slyness and gusto, and the film's biggest flaw is that there's too little of him: Johnson often switches his attention from Blank to other characters.
The sequel, like the original Knives Out, is a thriller with deceit and mysteries. Before us, of course, is a mysterious murder with several suspects, but it is interspersed with flashbacks and departures from the topic. Not to mention the fact that the film reveals two murders for the price of one at once.
Although the film is not so easy in terms of plot and some of the key points and motivations of the characters rather dubious, it's an extremely enjoyable film that's just as funny as the first - if not more.
