Battle of the titans: the autonomy of the flagships of Apple, Samsung, Xiaomi and OnePlus compared on video
Miscellaneous / / August 23, 2022
Youtuber TechDroider decided to find out how long the current flagships from different manufacturers are able to work under heavy load. For this, he tested the iPhone 13 Pro Max. Xiaomi 12S Ultra, One Plus 10 Pro and three Samsung smartphones at once: Galaxy S22 Ultra, Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4.
Among these smartphones, the Galaxy Z Flip 4 has the smallest battery capacity: only 3,700 mAh. The Galaxy Z Fold 4 and iPhone 13 Pro Max have 4,400 mAh each, Xiaomi got a 4,860 mAh battery, and OnePlus 10 Pro and Galaxy S22 Ultra have 5,000 mAh each. Although these devices have different display sizes and resolutions, they all support 120Hz. All Android smartphones are equipped with Qualcomm processors (Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 / 8+ Gen 1), and the iPhone, of course, runs on Apple's A15 Bionic chipset.
All devices were tested for the same usage scenarios: 2 hours 45 minutes in PUBG Mobile, 3 hours of video playback on YouTube, an hour in a standard browser (Chrome or Safari), an hour and 40 minutes of scrolling in social networks (mainly video and stories). Further, all smartphones were switched to video shooting mode - and left until the victorious one. Considering how energy-consuming this process is, the gadgets began to discharge one by one (they all survived to this stage). The blogger also measured their temperature at the time of discharge to find out how much different models overheat from intense load.
The Galaxy S22 Ultra was the first to give up - it lasted 8 hours and 56 minutes, warming up to 50.4 ° C in the process. For context, the video test began at around 8 hours and 27 minutes for all six devices. Here are the results of the remaining five - in order of improvement of the result:
- Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 - 9 hours 4 minutes, 42.1°C.
- Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 - 9 hours 18 minutes, 37.7°C.
- OnePlus 10 Pro - 9 hours 19 minutes, 45.1°C.
- Xiaomi 12S Ultra - 9 hours 38 minutes, 44.1°C.
- Apple iPhone 13 Pro - 10 hours 35 minutes, 40.5°C.
It is unlikely that for someone the results seemed surprising. In the end, Apple smartphones regularly win in such tests, and even devices with a larger battery capacity are not able to bypass them.
Note that even the worst S22 Ultra by the standards of this test still showed a good result. Almost 9 hours of intensive workload is an impressive result for 2022.
