Things to remember at this stage

• The child is not ready for extrauterine life, because its organs and systems have not yet matured. So, if you notice recurring, worsening abdominal pain, leakage of amniotic fluid, or bleeding, call an ambulance right away. Doctors may slow down even the onset of labor a little or administer medications that will speed up the release of surfactant so that the baby has a better chance of surviving.
