Lara Croft could be rebooted with a new actress
Miscellaneous / / July 29, 2022
Alicia Vikander, who replaced Angelina Jolie, is unlikely to return.
The MGM film company lost the rights to the Tomb Raider franchise after the deal with Amazon, so now Lara Croft is looking for a new home. Many studios and streaming services are already interested in buying the rights to a film adaptation, perhaps a completely new one, with a different actress in the title role. About it writes THR.
The franchise has now returned to producer Graham King and his GK Films, which bought the film rights from video game developer Square Enix back in 2011. King is free to sign a new deal with Netflix, HBO, or any major studio interested in developing Tomb Raider.
The last reboot took place in 2018, when the film "Tomb Raider: Lara Croft" with Alicia Vikander was released. The picture earned $ 275 million at the box office and was supposed to get a sequel, but now, apparently, the chances of its release are minimal.
On Metacritic, this film adaptation received mixed reviews, with a total score of 48/100 from critics and 6.2/10 from audiences. Have you watched this movie? Share your opinion in the comments.
