A full-fledged trailer for the series Patient Zero has been released on YouTube, which revealed the release date. The authors notethat although the story is based on real events, they tried to create based on facts and documentary chronicles it is a work of art - without the use of biographies of real people and a minute-by-minute retelling of events.
The action takes place in 1988 in the Kalmyk ASSR. The young doctor Kirsan Ayushev (Askar Ilyasov, "Epidemic”) suspects that several of his patients have HIV. Colleagues do not believe him, so he secretly sends samples for analysis to Moscow. When his correctness is confirmed, the scientist Dmitry Goncharov (Nikita Efremov), who specializes in this disease, joins the case.
The showrunner and producer of the series was Alexandra Remizova ("Topi”, “Trigger”), directed by Sergey Trofimov (“Devyataev”) and Evgeny Stychkin (“Contact”).
