Subtitles for videos in Picture-in-Picture mode, story grouping by folders, HDR on macOS and more.
Firefox developers announced the release of the 100th anniversary version of the browser, with which some new features appeared on PCs and smartphones. Here are the main ones.
Subtitles for video in Picture-in-Picture mode
In Firefox, you can already open two videos at once in Picture-in-Picture mode, which was especially appreciated by viewers sports broadcasts, and now the browser has another unique feature - displaying subtitles in such windows.
So far, they are available on three websites - YouTube, Prime Video and Netflix, as well as on pages that support the WebVTT format, such as coursera.org and Twitter. In the future, their list will grow.
Firefox browser wallpaper
Announced back in March, wallpapers for Firefox on Android and iOS are now available worldwide. So far, only Beach Vibes and Twilight hills have been added with different colors. You can find this feature in your browser settings.
Grouping history into folders
Also on Android and iOS, the browsing history is now streamlined. The pages there will automatically be grouped by the original element, for example, if you are looking for shoes and viewed several models, you can find them in the history grouped in one folder under your search request.
Also, the browser now hides duplicate sites, and on iOS, those open pages that the user has not visited for 14 days are transferred to an “inactive state”. They will be visible on the tab bar in a special section. On Android, this feature has been available for a long time.
Other new features in Firefox 100 mentioned priority HTTPS connection mode on Android, HDR video support on macOS 11+, as well as a convenient language switcher and automatic filling of credit card information (for some countries).
