Scientists have shown a snake-like creature from the depths of the ocean

The Monterey Bay Aquirium Research Institute released a video of an unusual deep-sea creature that looks like a cross between a giant snake and a centipede, about 49 meters long. In fact, this is a colony of siphonophores - many thousands of separate co-dependent creatures, connected into a common body, which is called the coenosarc (and individual organisms - zooids).
Observation of these creatures is difficult due to their fragility and depth of habitat: depending on the species, they can be found at a depth of 600 to 2,300 meters. If you bring such a creature to the surface, it will not withstand the pressure drop, so the study is possible only in its natural habitat.
To get the above video, the scientists installed several high-resolution cameras on the deep-sea research robot. With its help, researchers want to learn more about the mechanisms of movement of siphonophores.
