Just registering on a dating site is not enough.
Going on dates when you're 50 or older can be exhausting. Especially if you've just ended a long-term relationship and never thought that you would have to look for a partner again.
Of course, now you know much more about life, but on your shoulders and high responsibility - care about children and parents and much more. In addition, in today's world, the approach to dating and finding love has changed significantly. Dating apps, instant messengers, social networks - everything happens there.
But, as naive as it may sound, love is an amazing feeling. And to experience it again, you need to follow a few simple rules.
1. Understand themselves
Not worth it right away after parting run out on a date with the first candidate you come across. Take a break first to deal with your feelings. A few simple questions will help with this:
- How did you get your couple to break up? Have you gotten better after this relationship ended?
- What do you want from a new relationship? Marry or marry again? Build a strong bond without marriage? Or do you need something completely different?
- What kind of partner should be for you to be happy with him?
- Ideal relationships - what are they? How do you want to feel in them?
- How will you communicate with your new partner? What are you going to talk about? What will your union be like?
Developing a relationship at this stage in life requires a clear understanding of what you expect from a partnership. For example, finance: you are planning split budget or general? Or children: is it worth introducing them to a new partner, and if so, when?
If you answer all such questions in advance, this will avoid misunderstandings and many conflicts.
2. Don't be afraid of your fear
Even after taking a serious look at your feelings and needs, you may experience a commonplace fear of dating. This is totally normal. It can be difficult for all of us to re-open ourselves to people, given how easily they can reject us. Fear is a natural reaction, but don't let it stop you.
Allow yourself to be curious, explore the modern world of dating and relationships, and learn something new. The desire for change will help conquer fear. Even if you don't find love right away, starting dating is already a big step forward.
3. Use new technologies
If you still haven't signed up on dating sites, now is the time to do so. It is best to choose one, maximum two such services. This way you can keep everything under control and not waste too much time.
However, getting hung up on dating apps also not worth it. If you see a person you are interested in offline, step out of your comfort zone and feel free to get acquainted.
4. Dedicate 30 minutes a day to finding a partner
You figured out yourself and what you want, stopped being afraid and registered on a dating site. Then you have to spend some time looking for a suitable pair.
You probably don't have a full day to do this, so it's important to make a plan and take action. For example, make it a habit. Set aside 15 minutes every morning and every evening to visit the site, look for new candidates, read and reply to messages, and make appointments.
Tell yourself, "I'll go out into the dating world, meet a lot of interesting people, make friends, and have fun." This is the best mindset for success.
5. Be honest about your past
When you find the right person and feelings begin to arise between you, at some point a conversation will inevitably start. about the past experiences and breakups. Better to postpone it until the fifth or even tenth date. Especially if you still feel guilty or ashamed that your previous relationship didn't work out. Remember that failed marriages do not exist - we all change, learn new things and grow. Sometimes the puzzle just doesn't fit, and it's not your fault at all.
