How to disable Google Lens in Chrome and restore the old image search
Miscellaneous / / December 21, 2021
With a recent update, Chrome on PC has changed the way it searches for pictures. Now, when you right-click on the image, a context menu opens, where there is no familiar "Find picture" item, but there is "Find via Google Lens".
The "Lens" or Lens itself is a pretty useful service. It helps to recognize things and objects in the photo and search for them on the Web on other sites in order, for example, to buy. However, its incorporation into a regular browser image search deprived users of the basic image search capability when Chrome searches for the same images at different resolutions.
You can return the old search in a couple of actions:
- Open Chrome and write in the address bar chrome: // flags. A section with new and experimental features will open.
- You need to find in it Search your screen with Google Lens and on the contrary select the value Disabled.
- Chrome will ask you to reboot and after that the usual image search will return.
Since the function of searching for pictures through the "Lens" is in the list of experimental settings, Google may still refuse it with the next browser update.
