The flagships went head to head, but there could be only one winner.
YouTuber PhoneBuff has prepared a traditional comparison of the work of two flagships - this time from Apple and Google. Both models went on sale this fall, received custom processors and run the latest firmware versions. The author decided to find out which device provides the best performance.
To do this, on both devices, 16 popular applications from Facebook to Spotify were sequentially launched and followed simple steps. For example, Word had to wait for a 100-page document to load, Snapseed had to process a photo, and FilmoraGo had to export a video.
In tasks related to Microsoft applications (Word and Excel), iPhone 13 Pro Max proved to be much slower Pixel 6 Proand this was repeated for several additional tests. The author suggests that this may be due to recent updates, which are better optimized on Android than on iOS. but the fact remains: in working with documents in the Microsoft ecosystem, Apple's top smartphone lagged significantly behind competitor.
However, the iPhone showed itself at its best when it came to video processing: although the Pixel exported already 28% of a minute video in 720p, when the iPhone was just opening the project, the iPhone still coped with the render first. In casual game downloads, the Apple smartphone also outperformed its rival, while Amazon and content streaming apps both opened equally quickly.
As a result, the iPhone 13 Pro Max was ahead in the first round, finishing in exactly 2 minutes, while the Pixel was 4 seconds behind. In the second round, both smartphones re-downloaded the same apps and checked to see if they were still working or if the system had already unloaded them to free up memory.
Previously, this stage was killer for Pixel smartphones, because they consistently ran out of memory, but this time all applications remained in memory on both Android and iOS. However, the iPhone finished the stage a little earlier again: 50 seconds versus 51 seconds.
This means that the fastest of the two models is the iPhone 13 Pro Max with an overall score of 1:49, while the Pixel 6 Pro scored an equally impressive 1:55.
