How to make a beautiful modern renovation and not go broke. 10 tricks that work

1. Free up space
In modern interiors that designers are guided by, the central place is occupied by the space itself, not cluttered with unnecessary details. In such compositions, each item has its own meaning and functionality, so there are no visual piles and things - dust collectors.
To achieve this effect, plan your renovation carefully. For example, thoughtful storage systems help to relieve space. Out of season bedding and duvets can be stowed away in a drawer under the bed. For large kitchen utensils and utensils, make an additional tier of wall cabinets or pencil cases from floor to ceiling.
In a small bedroom, you can make a reading corner on the windowsill and place sections under it for storing clothes and toys. Install neat shelves on the balcony, under the stairs - a cabinet for a vacuum cleaner, mop and household power tools.
To forget about the problem of storing clothes, if possible, it is worthwhile to include a dressing room in a project for renovating an apartment or house. This way you don't have to buy a wardrobe for every room.
2. Use high-quality imitation of expensive materials
Modern technologies allow creating artificial analogs of wood, marble and natural stone without harm to quality. In laboratories, specialists develop special composite compositions with the necessary characteristics, and then, using the method of high-precision printing, they apply a pattern and texture of expensive materials to porcelain stoneware.
Such imitations are more convenient in everyday life. For example, porcelain stoneware, unlike wood parquet or marble, is not afraid of water. And also it does not have to be regularly sanded, coated with impregnation or varnish.
Marble or wood makes the interior more luxurious, but such materials need special care. Estima porcelain stoneware is a practical replacement for solid boards or marble tiles. Its design and texture cannot be distinguished from natural wood or stone. There are other options: imitation of classic Spanish or Italian tiles, concrete of various shades, textured brick or metal.

3. Install stretch ceilings
Until recently, they were considered a luxury, but today they are an affordable and practical finishing material. For their installation, it is not necessary to perfectly level the surface of the main ceiling. The fabric or film, which is fixed on the baguette installed around the perimeter of the room, will be perfectly flat due to the tension.
Lighting and security systems are installed in the stretch ceiling. You don't have to do anything extra - this is a significant saving of time and money. Also, between the rough and the stretch ceiling, you can lay heat or sound insulation.
Finally, if you are flooded with neighbors from above, you probably won't have to redo the repairs. A correctly installed stretch ceiling does not allow moisture to pass through, so it will be enough to remove one of the lamps and substitute a large container or carefully remove the water with a washing vacuum cleaner.
When choosing a specific ceiling, look for matte white options. Glossy texture and vibrant color are out of fashion. But if you still want to make an accent ceiling, then in order to avoid fatal mistakes, consult with the designer.
4. Divide the space into zones
You can zone a room with the help of light, flowers, finishing materials, transparent or lattice partitions, large furniture. This will help to isolate seating areas or a home office in the living room or highlight the preferences of each child in his part of the nursery.
Don't forget the floors, too. So, if you want to divide the kitchen into cooking and eating areas, you can use porcelain stoneware of different colors or textures.
If you understand that in a couple of years the apartment will have to be rearranged, or you generally like frequent changes, pay attention to the wallpaper for painting. With them, it is easy to zone the premises and, if necessary, they can be quickly and inexpensively repainted in a new color.
5. Choose complex shades
Bright doll colors tend to make repairs cheaper. Now they are not even used in the design of the nursery. Deep, muted, powdery shades look impressive both live and in the photo. Use these colors not only for walls and floors, but also in furniture, accessories, textiles.
In 2021, pastel and natural colors are in vogue. For example, the creator of the Pantone shade palette calledPANTONE® 17-5104 Ultimate Gray + PANTONE 13-0647 Illuminating / Pantone.ru Colors of the Year Illuminating and Ultimate Gray: According to the organization, this pair "conveys a message of strength and hope that is both enduring and inspiring." Shades of red and blue clay, sea wave, sand, deep purple and blue tones are also in trend.
If you want more colors in your interior, take a look at Estima colored concrete from the Spectrum collection. 6. Refurbish furniture
Soviet furniture can often be restored and integrated into modern interiors. In terms of reliability, cabinets and dressers from the former countries of the socialist bloc will definitely give odds to modern MDF products. Chairs, dressers, tables and floor lamps of simple geometric shapes from the 1960s – 1970s look spectacular in minimalist interiors.
If you do not inherit such furniture, you can buy it inexpensively on ad sites - sometimes they even give it away for free. And to make cabinets, dressers and tables more convenient, it is enough to equip them with new fittings: pull-out bars, rollers, modern opening mechanisms. But if you do not want to do the restoration yourself, then look for companies that sell already updated items. If we are not talking about rare options, then such furniture can be found at a price comparable to the cost of modern copies.
7. Install doors that won't have to be restored
Modern materials like eco-veneer successfully imitate natural wood. And fans of the Scandinavian style and classics will love the models in enamel. Such interior doors are inexpensive. They are easy to care for: just wipe with a dry or damp microfiber cloth. Many models are water resistant and therefore suitable for bathrooms and kitchens.
And classic wooden doors dry out over time and tolerate increased humidity worse. If the varnish is damaged, the wood will begin to absorb water and deform. It is not cheap to restore wooden doors, and most often you need to contact a specialist for this.
8. Add light
One chandelier per room will not be enough. Different areas in the room require different light sources. For example, a floor lamp by an armchair is the perfect choice for reading or knitting, plain garlands for creating a romantic atmosphere, and a directional light at the table for work.
It is convenient if all the lights in the room can be turned off with one button - on the wall or in a smartphone. This saves time and makes the apartment more technologically advanced.
9. Match the windows to the interior and design the window sills
Windows made of white plastic do not add beauty to the interior and are often knocked out of the general style. In addition, in 5-10 years they turn yellow, and the accessories fail.
Fortunately, now in stores you can find color options and choose a shade that exactly suits your interior. Choose windows with a narrow profile - this will increase the amount of light in the room. And don't forget the window sills. White plastic can ruin even the most sophisticated design renovations, so choose window sills made of wood or porcelain stoneware.
10. Buy minimalist bathroom ceramics and remove irrelevant décor
Leave glossy ceramics with bright ornaments, dolphins and flowers for the decoration of the kindergarten. Instead, choose large-format tiles in natural textures and shades. Such an interior calms, helps to relax and looks very neat and expensive.
But think not only of decoration, but also of equipment. For example, bulky shower boxes are no longer in fashion, and no one hangs curtains with funny prints. If space permits, choose a bath with graceful legs or a cabin with transparent walls.
You also need to find the right decor. Buy quality plain towels, a stone (not plastic) soap dish, and a wicker basket for dirty laundry. The visual clutter of assorted items can easily ruin a beautiful and expensive renovation.
