What is iPhone data saving mode for?
Miscellaneous / / May 06, 2021
A useful feature that you might not know about.
Beginning with iOS 13 iPhone and iPad now have a Data Saver feature. It allows you to restrict the data transfer in the background to save traffic, and works for both cellular networks and Wi-Fi.
By activating this function, you disable updating applications in the background, data transfer for closed programs, automatically download updates and create backups, and reduce the quality of content when streaming. Its constant use may not be very convenient, but it will be much easier to hold out for a couple of days before updating the traffic limit in the tariff plan.
How to enable cellular data saver mode
- Open the "Cellular" section in the smartphone settings.
- Go to the Data Options section.
- Switch the slider next to the "Data saving" item to the active position.
How to enable Wi-Fi data saving mode
- Open the Wi-Fi section in the smartphone settings.
- Click on the ⓘ icon next to the desired network name.
- Switch the slider next to the "Data saving" item to the active position.
The settings for each network will sync between devices that use the same Apple ID, so that when you enable this function for a home network on a smartphone, it is also activated on your computer, laptop or tablet.
