Spotify introduces podcast subscriptions
Miscellaneous / / April 23, 2021
Spotify will launch its podcast subscription next week. The service will not charge the authors for connection or impose a commission on them. Podcasters will be able to set their own subscription prices. About it writes The Wall Street Journal.
Spotify could have been pushed to this decision by Apple, which recently updated its podcast app and announced a subscription to support creators. True, participation in such a program will cost them $ 19.99 per year, and the commission on income will be 30% in the first year and 15% after.
Sources also report that users of the Spotify app on iOS when paying for podcast subscriptions will be redirected to another website, which will allow the service to avoid commissions in favor of Apple.
As a reminder, Spotify podcasts are not yet available in Russia.
