The research company Omdia has published a list of 10 smartphones that were bought the most in the first half of 2020. The first place was expectedly taken by the iPhone 11, the sales of which amounted to 37.7 million units. This is an unattainable bar for other devices. The second-ranked Samsung Galaxy A51 has 11.4 million, while the Redmi Note 8, which is in third place, has 11 million.
The entire top 10 looks like this:
- iPhone 11 (37.7 million)
- Samsung Galaxy A51 (11.4 million)
- Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 (11 million)
- Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro (10.2 million)
- iPhone SE (2020) (8.7 million)
- iPhone XR (8 million)
- iPhone 11 Pro Max (7.7 million)
- Xiaomi Redmi 8A (7.3 million)
- Xiaomi Redmi 8 (6.8 million)
- iPhone 11 Pro (6.7 million)
For a number of positions, this list overlaps with a similar statistics from Canalys, which was released in May and reflected the state of the market in the first quarter of this year.
A year ago, in the first half of 2019, the iPhone XR was the leader, but it could not boast the same popularity as the iPhone 11 now. The sales volumes of this model, even despite the pandemic, turned out to be 10.8 million more units than that of the XR for the same period of 2019. This is really a really anti-crisis smartphone.
