Cherry and Streisel Pie

Cherry and Streisel Pie is a popular dish in Germany and abroad. It can be cooked with other fruits or berries as well.
For Streisel, combine sugar with flour, salt and cinnamon. Add softened butter and grind until a crumbly mixture is obtained.
Remove the seeds from the cherries, cut the flesh into halves. Stir in sugar, crushed zest and starch.
To make a cake base, mix the sugar and softened butter. Add eggs one at a time while whisking.
Combine the resulting mixture with sour cream and vanilla extract.
Add the flour mixed with salt and baking powder little by little. Knead the dough.
Grease a baking dish with vegetable oil. Put the base for the cake, berries in it, and sprinkle with streusel crumbs on top.
You can use parchment paper instead of oil.
Bake for about 40 minutes at 180 ° C. If the cake starts to brown too quickly, cover it with foil.
To check the doneness, pierce the cake with a toothpick; it should remain dry.
Leave the cake at room temperature for 20-25 minutes before serving.
