Emergency number 112: what you need to know about it
Tips / / December 19, 2019
I think that many people have heard about the salvation of a single number 112 service. However, few people know how it really works and what state the system is in Russia at the moment. In this article I will detail everything that is directly related to the work of emergency phone: much better calls that you answer in the "other end" who serves number 112 and why knowledge of the principles of the system operation can save lives in dangerous situations.
A bit of theory
In the countries of the European Union and North America for a long time there is a single emergency number. Hardly anyone had heard about the number 911, used in the United States. Every American knows that this phone call is necessary, were in trouble. In Russia, until the mobile phone about any single issue was not even mentioned. Each emergency service is invoked by one of the numbers - 01, 02 or 03.
At this point to stop and identify an important point. If you still have a landline (home) phone, then most likely, with the number 112 on it, you will not get through. The fact is that in Russia so far, due to the bureaucratic and financial problems, only three functioning pilot Zone (Kursk region, Republic of Tatarstan, the Astrakhan region) and in 22 regions conducted engineering design system 112.
As for mobile phones, here things are a little better. In the GSM standard by which operates the majority of mobile phones in the world, protection functionality of the emergency number. The vast majority of handset manufacturers follow the rules and maintain a quick call to emergency services. Typically, the number can be dialed even unlock the keypad.
Get to the point
Perhaps you know that the number 112 to call if the phone is not SIM-card, and does not catch the operator's network, or you have a negative balance. How does it work? After dialing the phone numbers trying to send a signal to your service provider in the case of an unsuccessful attempt to redirect it to one of the available networks. For example, if the track does not catch your network of MTS, the phone will ring through the "Beeline", "Megaphone" and so on.
Keep in mind that even if you make a call to an emergency number without a SIM card, the operator will see a unique phone number (IMEI) and, if necessary, is likely to be able to identify your personality. It is too infantile to hope that the call is absolutely anonymous.
Now let's talk more about mobile operators. Each of them, in accordance with Article 52 of the Federal Law "On Communications", is bound to have the service in charge of the emergency number. But it does not unconditionally hope that requirement is met by all and in full. Small regional operators may contain small staff rescue phone service.
So, what happens when you dial the number 112. In fact, everything is very primitive: rescue service operator of your mobile provider will ask, for what reason you call, may find the address and switch to the desired number - 01, 02 or 03. There is also a possibility that you will say no living man, and the robot, which will ask you to enter the number on the phone keypad to switch to one of the services.
It must be remembered that such a challenge for you will always be free.
Alternative
Despite all the advantages of a single emergency number, do not forget about some problems.
Firstly, as I said, a cellular operator can not provide the service, and the number is always busy in the proper amount.
Secondly, it is easy to notice that the dial to the required service takes place through a third party (mobile network operator), which reflects badly on the speed of communicating alarm information.
Third, the mobile operator employee who serves number 112 may be difficult to know the city, and his duty is usually included to find out the exact location of the incident.
On this basis, taking into account all the circumstances, it may be more correct to call directly to certain emergency services (MES, police or ambulance). However, this is not so simple.
By the standards of GSM protocol to the numbers that are shorter than three characters, the challenges are not carried out, and there is a USSD-request. Thus, the call to one of the services, it is necessary to use a substitute numbers, and they are different for different operators.
If you are a subscriber of MTS, Tele-2 or "MegaFon", use the numbers 010, 020, 030, 040, or 001, 002, 003, 004, if you are using mobile phones from the "Beeline".
I hope that you will never happen to call the emergency services, but in any case, you need to know how this is best done.
