Melissa Marshall about complicated things in simple words

In a 4-minute speech at the conference TEDGlobal Melissa Marshall, Communications Specialist, he says that even the most difficult things can be explained in accessible language. Doctors, engineers, mathematicians, astronomers, physicists and other scientists could share the joy of his discoveries to many more people, if able to properly talk about it.
Some doctors inexplicably like to talk with their patients using highly complex medical terms. And very often that their language sounds terribly frightening for patients, in fact, may be the common cold or a slight indisposition caused by another virus. While all of the same can be explained in simple terms that will be understandable to everyone.
Similarly, some teachers like to talk with students and, most interestingly, to explain new topic complex terms. I do not quite understand what kind of goal they are pursuing in this case. Possible so they allocate to themselves gifted students who grasp everything on the fly. But what about the rest of the 90% class ?!
