During the presentation of the first iPhone, Steve Jobs said, "is a revolutionary product comes from time to time, that changes everything." 11 years after Jobs' speech, we increasingly come to the conclusion that we do not like the way the phones have changed us. We feel busy, but the inefficiencies associated with each other, but lonely. The technology, which gives us the freedom, at the same time serves as a leash: the more we become attached to their gadgets, the more urgent becomes the question of who really is in control.
Katherine Price past two years, wrote a book about how to create a healthy relationship with your smartphone, based on research in the field neuroplasticity, Consciousness and science of behavior change. Here are nine of the best tips from her.
1. Decide why you need a smartphone
Many people aim to spend less time on a smartphone, but do not specify how to do so. They abruptly stop using your smartphone, and then wonder why it did not work.
This is equivalent to a desire to stop someone, to "improve relations" when you have no idea what they should be. If you do not understand this question, it is likely, the following relationship will be the same as the previous ones.
So before you take any action, ask yourself why you need a smartphone? What brings you pleasure, and that upsets? What habits would you like to change?
2. Find out how much time you spend on the phone
Install an app that will keep track of your activity. Perhaps you are upset when you find out how much time is wasted, but it's a great way to motivate yourself and to monitor progress.

Soon you will have more free time: for example, when you are traveling in an elevator or standing in line. Take a deep breath and just relax. Remember what it was like - immerse yourself in your own thoughts.
Think what would you like to do in your free evening and create an appropriate atmosphere at home. If you want to read more, put the book on the coffee table, so that it was in view when you collapse on the couch after work. If you want to play music, take out the tool from its case and place it where it will always be at hand.
4. Use the application to be protected from the application
It sounds paradoxical, but in fact it is an extremely effective way. Applications such as Freedom, OFFTIME or Flipd, will allow you to block access to other applications and websites. Include them at work or while studying. Some applications allow you to schedule: you can block access to social networks in a couple of hours before bedtime. This is an incredibly useful tool to change their habits.

6. Remove social networking applications
Such applications are created in order to get us to spend them as much time as possible. What for? Because it is profitable. Every minute we spend on social networks - this is another opportunity to show our advertising.
This does not mean you have to stop to sit in social networks. But if your goal - to spend as little time on the smartphone, think about how to use social networks only on the computer.
7. Adjust text answering machine
Many people get nervous when a long time do not respond to a message from the source, so always keep your smartphone ready. In that case, you can configure a text answering service. One of the reasons that all our attempts to spend less time on smartphones leads to failure, is that we treat it as an act of self-deprivation. Instead, try to think in a more positive way: the less time we spend with the phone, the more our life is similar to that which we dream.
