How to set goals with the help of mental maps

Life rarely develop linearly, so set goals based only on linear thinking, it is not very effective. There is a better way.
The essence of the mental maps to visually display your plans, interests and aspirations. Mental map - a chart on which the information is structured, branching from one of the central themes. So better to become visible connection between the parts of the whole.
Why do we need a mental map
It is time to replace the word "target" new. For most people, the goal became associated with the responsibilities. We put them safely forget, and a few months begin to blame themselves for having failed to comply with anything. Associative cards help avoid this, they can be used more widely to look at all areas of life and to determine in which direction we want to go.
How to build a mental map
Record in the center of the page title of the project or the main theme that you want to think non-linearly (eg, "2018" or "My value"). Draw an arrow from the center to several categories.
If you are making plans for next year, make a note of your important areas of life. If you are considering any creative project, write down the topics that need to be carefully considered. Then from these main draw following the arrows next to them and write down everything that comes to your mind. For example, specific ideas for each topic, keywords, or the reasons for which these topics are important to you, or all together.
Remember, the exact rules of construction no such cards. Do not limit yourself, write down all the associations, even when you think that all the most important thing you've already entered.
How not to stray off course
At each site map ask yourself two questions: "What is the next step will affect the result of the most?" And "What small step can I do next week?". So you will gradually move forward.
Also, do not forget that your goal does not necessarily have to be clearly spelled out once and for all. Presents the results you want to achieve, but at the same time, try to enjoy the process.
Keep your card in sight, so that every few months, it was convenient to go back to it and track your progress. And not to forget to define steps for the next week, leave yourself reminders on the calendar.
