Test hundred things: how to wean themselves from over-consumption
A Life / / December 19, 2019
"We work in shit to buy shit we do not need." Through the words of Tyler Durden speaketh the truth, that's when we realized the futility of excessive consumption, still we continue to buy, buy, buy. It would seem, the subject is already so beaten up that talk about it there is absolutely no sense. However, some clear decisions are still problems there.
Today we will tell you about the method, which was tested for itself thousands of people. Many of them have confirmed its effectiveness, noting the tremendous change.
Meet Dave BrunoMan, refuting all the ideals of the consumer society. Companies tell us that we will be happy to buy their products, but the purchase did not make Dave happy. Happiness is not the case. Things should not control us and our lives - we do well to deal with it, while advertising and marketing is not raised by a couple of generations.
Dave is notable in that it offers not just some abstract theses, and very specific technique, dressed in a simple and understandable form.
One can not get rid of the power of consumerism, have not changed their attitude to things.
Bruno began with himself. He developed the concept of 100 Things Challenge - a rule that he lived for a year with no more than a hundred personal items. Others "very important" property must be sold or otherwise permanently separated from the owner. Only in this way - 100 things no longer. Naturally, the choice of subjects, which will have 365 days to live, need some reservations:
- The list will only include personal items, ie those that use only you. Refrigerator, TV and other utensils are not counted for the whole family.
- A collection of valuable items (library of rare books, stamps, and the like) is counted as one item.
- Socks and underwear are considered for one thing. T-shirts, shirts, jeans, and so on - each item in a separate paragraph.
- , You must get rid of the existing before updating the item from the list.
- Throughout the year, the number of one-time items should not exceed 100 units. If you have 100 things and for whatever reason, you suddenly become the owner of another (for example, you it presented), then you have exactly seven days in which to get rid of it or of some other things from your list.
Now, seemingly, that's all. In the event of any dispute actions of the main rule: no more than 100 items in any case.
The use of this technique is felt almost immediately. A short time interval you suddenly discover how much space in your apartment, and in the long run will be significantly reduced costs.
After the global crisis of 2008, the idea was picked up by Dave thousands of Americans who have realized the fragility of the existing system and the meaninglessness of modern ideals.
Dave has successfully passed the designated self-test. When the period ended, he did not want to go back to the old slavery. He felt the absolute power and control over their lives. Things are no longer ruled by them, does not determine its success, action, status and opportunities.
To understand English, we offer a video presentation by Dave on TEDx.
You already feel as grown within you a voracious consumer demands to write a comment something in the style of "Brad is complete, we can not live!"?
